If there’s 2 things you can’t beat, it’s the ability to play bingo on your mobile, and some cracking early evening TV. So the launch of a new social bingo app based on the popular TV show Come Dine with Me is absolute food for the soul!
The game will be developed by the London based mobile gaming platform gurus Nektan, so you just know this will be a great one to check out when it launches. In order to be able to develop the game, Nektan had to sign a deal with the UK broadcaster and home of Come Dine with Me itself, Channel 4, in order to have permission to use the name, concept and any associations with the TV show.
The game itself will be a social bingo app. This means that players will be playing for fun, with no real money prizes up for grabs. Contrasting to other popular bingo sites, players also won’t need to put any money into the site in order to try out this top new slot. As a social game, we expect the app to centre around the likes of Facebook, where players can invite their friends to join them, and be part of their dinner party!
Nektan have already revealed that the game will be played using virtual currency, which we imagine will be used to purchase tickets, with the promise of more virtual currency awarded for a bingo win. Players will also be able to play for extra game credits, have the ability to unlock extra features and make special in-game purchases with cash if they wish (though this isn’t compulsory)
The developer has also revealed that the app will be absolutely free to download, though did not specify if the app would be compatible with all devices or only available in one app store.
TV Bingo games
The move might not come as much of a surprise to many mobile bingo fans, as there has been a trend over the past couple of years of TV show themed bingo games cropping up on different sites. One of the most popular is Deal or No Deal Bingo, which is based on the tea-time box-opening bonanza hosted by Noel Edmonds. Another is Who Wants to be a Millionaire Bingo, which follows the format of a jackpot scale, much like the TV show itself. Get bingo in the right number of calls and you’ll win the top prize in this version of bingo. Although it’s not just gameshows which have been adapted into bingo games, as there’s even a version of our very own home grown soap as a bingo site. Coronation Street Bingo takes players down to the cobbles of Weatherfield where the bingo balls are even called out by a famous street veteran.
However all these popular TV themed bingo games are examples found on real money sites, meaning that players sign up and deposit cash in a bid to win real cash jackpots, or non-monetary luxury goodies as prizes. As Come Dine with Me Bingo is going to be a social gaming app, it’s still up in the air as to whether this game will prove as popular with bingo and entertainment TV fans.
However the CEO of Nektan, David Gosen believes that the new Nektan bingo game will do well thanks to a combination of their fantastic technology and the great theme from Channel 4, alongside their audience too. One thing’s for sure, we’re all keen to see what the final product will look like!
